Smoother than what?


Got the new phone book, and found this pointless ad on the back cover.

Qwest wants us to know that they're "smoother."  What the hell does that adjective have to do with a phone network?  When asked what qualities one seeks in a phone service provider, has anyone ever said they want one that's "smoother?"

How is "smoother" exemplified by a guy with bed-head and two week's growth?

The bigger question is:  WHY does Qwest feel the need to take up the back cover of their own book, wasting primo advertising space?  Why do they advertise at all?  It's not like we have a choice of phone service providers!

(If we did, do you think they'd still be in business?)
